What changes
| Area | Today | In the new way of working |
|---|---|---|
| How a job moves | Programme built at tender and issued to site | Takt plan built with site leads and trades, in zones with a steady rhythm |
| Who decides what | Anything unusual goes to a director | Site leads own the weekly plan, project managers own clearing blockers, directors step in by exception |
| Where the work happens | Office and site plan separately | One visual plan, used by office and site in the same weekly meeting |
| Information | Design answers and progress reports arrive late | Information needs are raised from the look-ahead weeks before the work; progress is captured weekly against the plan |
| Subcontractors and suppliers | Trades booked against programme dates | Trades commit each week to work that’s ready for them, and see how reliably everyone delivers |
| Plan, review and control | Monthly meetings review the past | A weekly rhythm that looks ahead, clears blockers and measures promises kept (PPC) |
The weekly rhythm
- Look-ahead review: what’s coming in the next six weeks, and what could stop it.
- Weekly commitment meeting: trades agree what they’ll complete.
- Daily huddle: fifteen minutes on site to keep the week on track.
- End-of-week check: promises kept, and why any were missed.
Who owns what
- Directors: set the rhythm, review by exception, clear blockers the team can’t.
- Project managers: run the look-ahead and keep the blocker list moving.
- Site leads: run the weekly commitment meeting and daily huddle.
- Trade partners: make, keep and report their weekly promises.
